Wooden boat - cutter Sveti Marko - 3D reconstruction
Archaeological Museum Istra
About the project
Based on the received documentation in the form of a 3D scanned data, detailed ship 3D reconstruction was accomplished.
The ship is more than 120 years old, and represents the last existing example of a Austro-Hungarian Navy wooden boat. Due to its importance, the ship goes through a complex process of refit and detailed repairs at the Pula Shipyard in order to return it to seaworthy condition.
For the purposes of its reconstruction, detailed 3D modeling of all ship structural elements is carried out. Damaged or non-existent elements such as masts and deck hatches are remodeled, and complete CAD drawing documentation of the ship structure, which did not exist until then, were developed.
Also, preliminary modeling and designing of the ship's rigging and sails are performed as well as the new foundation of the masts.
